Work with SEK

Good specialists.
Shared standards.

Your reputation matters. So does ours. SGS is developing a preferred network around specialist businesses whose competence, working practices and professional conduct stand up to scrutiny. A familiar name opens a conversation; evidence and due diligence determine whether a business carries our preferred-partner status.

01

Evidence before endorsement.Checks before preferred status.

02

Scope matters.Approved for relevant disciplines only.

03

Standards stay current.Review, renew or withdraw.

The people we work with

The right specialist.
For the right discipline.

Our working relationships span the technical environments we know. This is a guide to the expertise we value, not a claim that every category currently has an approved partner.

Why work together

What does a good
relationship offer?

Due diligence is the foundation, not the reward. When there is a good fit, the working relationship should be practical and worthwhile for both sides.

01 / PRACTICAL CONTEXT

Straight technical conversations.

We know how systems are designed, installed and commissioned. Where involved, we aim to help establish the real question before asking a specialist to respond.

Useful knowledge, not another sales pitch.
02 / RELEVANT CONNECTIONS

Opportunities that fit your work.

When a genuine opportunity fits your technical scope, location and availability, there may be a sensible introduction. The parties agree directly how any work will proceed.

No exclusivity or guaranteed workload.
03 / MUTUAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Your reputation stays your own.

Competence, honest communication and ownership of workmanship matter. Where a specialist contracts directly with a client, that specialist remains responsible for their own delivery.

Clear scope, clear commercial boundaries.

Preferred status is not a guarantee of work, an accreditation, or an assurance of performance on every job. Suitability must also be assessed for each engagement.

Our preferred-partner standard

A recommendation should have something behind it.

Knowing a company and having confidence in its work is valuable. But SGS must also be able to show why we consider that business suitable to be associated with our name.

Our proposed standard requires evidence proportionate to the discipline, a recorded decision and review when circumstances change.

How the review works
WHAT WE REVIEW / RELEVANT TO SCOPE

Not just a familiar face.

  • Identity & standingTrading details, company status where applicable, and named contacts.
  • Competence & scopeProven work, relevant qualifications, credentials and technical limitations.
  • Insurance & permissionsSuitable cover, statutory licences and specialist registrations where required.
  • Working practicesHealth & safety, installation methods, records, communication and remedial response.
  • Continuing suitabilityReview dates, expiry checks, concerns and withdrawal where necessary.
Approval is limited to an agreed scope. It can be suspended or withdrawn.
Professional confidence

Our name matters. So does yours.

Long-standing experience helps us identify capable people, but it does not replace verification. We expect straightforward evidence, clear limitations and the willingness to put things right when necessary.

"If the work is wrong, we say so. It does not matter who did it."
Working standards

What we commit to.
What we expect.

Being considered for preferred status brings both opportunity and responsibility. Association with SGS is subject to explicit approval, not assumption.

FROM SEK

Fair dealing and clear boundaries.

  • Honest discussion of relevant opportunities and technical requirements.
  • Respect for client choice, confidentiality and appropriate information-sharing.
  • Documented scope-limited decisions and proportionate review.
  • Clear terms before work starts; no assumed commissions or guarantees.
FROM YOU

Proof, professionalism and follow-through.

  • Describe your genuine specialisms, limits, location and capacity.
  • Supply and maintain evidence of competence, suitable insurance and any required licences.
  • Maintain safe working practices, clear communication and suitable records.
  • Own errors, deal with concerns and cooperate with reasonable review.
To be clear: a first conversation is not preferred status, endorsement, or a guarantee of work. SGS due diligence is not certification and does not replace project-specific checks. Work is normally contracted directly between client and specialist unless another arrangement is expressly agreed. "Partner" does not create a legal partnership.
How status is earned

Know. Check. Agree. Review.

Personal experience matters, but preferred status requires a recorded decision and remains subject to review.

  1. 01

    Introduce

Tell us your specialist field, service area and track record.

  2. 02

    Verify

We examine identity, competence, insurance and any required credentials.

  3. 03

    Approve scope

Any preferred status is explicitly recorded for defined disciplines, with agreed terms.

  4. 04

    Review

We monitor expiries and performance, and reconsider status if concerns arise.

Professional boundaries

Separate relationships. Independent judgements.

Preferred-partner status is an SGS commercial decision. It gives no advantage in any Fire Risk Assessment undertaken by SEK Technical Services Ltd, whose professional assessment findings remain independent. Clients always retain their choice of contractor. No work, fees or introductions are implied by an SGS partner relationship.

Start with a conversation

Good at what you do?
Let us understand it.

We are interested in established specialists and capable independent engineers. Tell us what you actually do, where you work and how you demonstrate competence. A conversation starts the process; it does not confer preferred status.

First, a conversation.

Tell us a little about your specialism. More detailed evidence and checks are only requested if we agree to progress the relationship.
